Ant Baber uses his expert eye and empathy for these magnificent animals to create paintings of great personality. As owner of Ant’s Nest and Ant’s Hill Safari Lodges in South Africa, he is able to walk with rhino, or ride with herds of buffalo and antelope, everyday gaining insight to influence his art. His intuitive sense of colour draws on impressionist style bringing vibrancy and warmth to his compositions.
While being a way to relax and re-energise after long days working outside, painting for Ant is also a way of funding the protection of the wildlife on the reserve. Rhinos need 24 hour military-style surveillance to keep them safe from poaching, which is extremely costly and relentless. Ant has sold at auction and has received commissions from clients all over the world who are keen to support his initiative.
